Annual Report

AIRPORT DIVISION

The County Airport continues to be a self-sustaining operation.  It has consistently covered its expenses, generating surplus revenue that has been used to offset local costs of capital projects.  All T-Hangars and corporate hangars are fully rented and there continues to be waiting lists for additional hangar space.

The capital improvement program continues to be implemented at the County Airport with the help of federal and state aid.  The County was successful in obtaining several grants.  These grants include the removal of obstructions and relocation of the perimeter fence on the north side of the airport, a design grant to work on rehabilitating the center portion of the runway which has not been worked on since 1978 and a grant to demolish the old terminal and hangar and convert the site to new aprons and taxiways.  These projects should be underway during the fall of 2016 with estimated completion in 2017.

The Terminal and Maintenance Hangar project was completed in May 2016 and the County made the move into the new facilities with a seamless transition in operations.  The Batavia Rotary Club hosted a Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast and the County hosted over 2,500 people at the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the new facility.  Significant marketing has been done with the new facility to attract business during big events like the OshKosh Air Show in Wisconsin, when the County Airport typically experiences plenty of transient thru traffic.  This combined with excellent weather have driven fuel sales to new record levels.  Year-to-date sales of 100LL fuel are up 4.8% and Jet-A sales are up 10%.  This is after a record year in 2015.

The County has additional space to lease in the Terminal for both a Café and a car rental agency.  An RFP will be prepared for both spaces to maximize revenue and add to the traffic at the airport.
