Animal Shelter Info
Only residents of Genesee County may surrender an animal at the Genesee County Animal Shelter. Please phone ahead before bringing an animal to the shelter. Although we want to help as many animals as we possibly can, there are times when space is not available.
Each week's featured cat or dog also is used in the Saturday PennySaver ad for Genesee Feeds. The PennySaver also features the animals elsewhere in its Saturday edition. If you would like to be on the e-mail list, please send an e-mail to: email@example.com We will not use your address for anything other than shelter information and it will not appear on the posting.
AdoptionEffective January 1, 2017, there is a $60, non-refundable fee for all animals. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35, refundable deposit upon proof of surgery. An adoption application must be completed at the shelter by the person wishing to adopt the animal. Once the application has been reviewed and approved, the potential adopter may visit and meet any of the animals.
DogsAll dogs must be licensed before leaving the shelter. Please note that public offices that license dogs are not open on the weekends. All dogs must leave the shelter on a leash. Please bring a leash.
CatsAll cats must leave the shelter in a cat carrier. Please bring a carrier.
