State and Federal agencies have established geographic mapping to regulate the development of land in areas of the county that contain FRESHWATER WETLANDS and FLOOD HAZARD AREAS. In many circumstances these determinations are used in the lending and insurance industries to assess risk, and are used by federal and state agencies to enforce environmental protection laws and other laws. Every effort has been made to preserve the integrity of the geographic mapping that is available at this mapping site and in depicting the approximate boundaries of FRESHWATER WETLANDS and FLOOD HAZARD AREAS.

However, users should be aware that when overlaid with the tax parcel and property data generated by the County of Genesee, these regulatory mapping boundaries exhibit a margin of error. Therefore in accordance with state and federal laws, users in Genesee County should consult the official mapping and/or seek professional advisement from the following agencies when determining whether a parcel contains a FRESHWATER WETLAND or is within a FLOOD HAZARD AREA.

The data presented in this web application may be incomplete. Geographical coverage is missing for the City of Batavia, Town of Alexander, Villages of Elba, Alexander and Attica in the case of FIRE HYDRANTS. SEWER LINES data is also missing for the Villages of Elba, Alexander, and Attica.
