Military CDL Waiver

Effective 2/8/12 New York State Department of Motor Vehicle has amended the skills test waiver to allow recently discharged active military and active New York National Guard to be able to waive the road test for obtaining a commercial Drivers License.

Requirements for this waiver, the applicant must:

1.)Hold a NYS Driver's License

2.)Be employed regularly or was regularly employed within the last 90 days in a military position requiring operation of a commercial motor vehicle for at least 2 years preceding discharge from the military.

3.)Present  a CDL Certification for waiver of skills test

4.)Pass all applicable written tests and pay the test fees.
