This course trains firefighters and emergency services personnel to fully understand and perform decontamination of people and equipment at the scene of a hazardous materials release. Proper protection, as well as procedures for emergency and formal decontamination is covered.

2014 TRI-COUNTY FIREFIGHTER I & SURVIVAL (Genesee-Orleans-Wyoming)
|
As the initial entry program for firefighting personnel, Firefighter I introduces firefighting concepts, practices and techniques necessary for success within the fire service. Based on the Firefighter Level I objectives from NFPA Standard 1001, this course develops knowledge, skills and abilities based on performance criteria for the following topics: fire department organization, firefighter safety, fire behavior, personal protective equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus, fire extinguishers, building searches, forcible entry, ground ladders, ventilation, hose practices, fire streams and loss control. The course consists of performance criteria in incident command, building constructions, ropes/knots, rescue procedures, forcible entry applications, suppression of structural fires, tactics, vehicle suppression, water supply, loss control, fire cause determination, fire department communications, fire suppression systems, hazardous materials, weapons of mass destruction, confined space safety and fire prevention practices.

Students must be physically capable of wearing SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) and possess current medical clearance for SCBA use. Students not possessing this pre-requisite will not be allowed to participate for their own safety. Provision for fit testing will be available at pre-course orientation. Student must bring SCBA face piece. A complete “Training Authorization Letter” mailed with your registration will meet this requirement. |

EVOC UTICA MUTUAL EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATIONS
|
This course provides vehicle operators with a better understanding of the seriousness of emergency vehicle operation. Based on objectives from National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), this course stimulates the thought process to make students aware of the potential for tragedy and financial loss and of the legal and moral responsibilities encountered when operating an emergency vehicle.

NOTE: Saturday's class will begin at 9:00 AM
