CW#2 Letters of the 8th New York Heavy Artillery Arranged: Chronologically Includes: From August 1862 to June 1865, 255 letters were exchanged between Genesee County soldiers in the 8th NY Heavy Artillery (129 NY Volunteers) and their families – the three prime soldier letters were Thomas Jasper Dean, Marshall Norton Cook, and John Jay Sherman. There were additional miscellaneous writers: Norman Martin (Co. H.), Merritt James Munger (medical cadet), Captain Alexander Gardner (Co. I.), and Charlotte W. Ford (ward clerk). Letters to and from family members are included. Each letter is prefaced by initials in bold identifying the writer and recipient.
