What is Long Term Care?In order to better understand Long-term Care Insurance, it is helpful to learn what long-term care is. Long-term care is a variety of services that help people with health or personal activities of daily living over a period of time. The fact is, 60 percent of people over the age of 65 will need some type of long-term care. Long-term care does not mean a complete loss of independence or control over your life. The key to effective decision-making is planning early and wisely, knowing your options, and taking action. It is about living well. Long-Term Care InsuranceLong-term Care Insurance covers long-term care services provided in a nursing home, at home, or in community-based settings, which Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance (Medigap), and traditional health and disability insurance plans typically do not cover.
