DETERMINING YOUR NEEDS

The type of care you may need depends on how much help you need with your daily activities.  Some of these daily activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Grooming
  • Eating
  • Getting in and out of a bed or a chair
  • Housework
  • Laundry
  • Meal preparation
  • Shopping
  • Using the toilet

The “How Much Help Do I Need?” section below can help you learn what services are on hand to help you in your situation.  The type of services you may need can also depend on how much help you need with the activities relating to your illness or disability.  Some of these activities may include:

  • Taking medication
  • Caring for surgical wounds
  • Using helpful devices or equipment

If you need help with one or more of these activities, it may mean that you need some long term care.  It may be hard to figure out what care and services you want, but you do not have to do it alone.  There are many resources and agencies that can help you.
