Special Protection Program

This program insures a special year-round safeguard against shutoff of electric, natural gas, steam, and telephone utilities. If you are 62 or older, blink or disabled (and all other residents of your household are 62 or older, 18 or younger, or blind or disabled), you are eligible for special protections. It's important for a senior to know that a utility company generally cannot require a deposit from a customer 62 or older.
