Event Location: GENESEE COUNTY PARK & FOREST (Area B), Raymond Road, East Bethany, NY 14054

Event Date: OCTOBER 2, 2016

Event Schedule: Registration will start at 8:00am. 10k start at 9:00am; 5k run/walk start at 9:15am.

Event Fees: $25 in advance, $30 day of race.

Event Description: Join the ACORNS for a 5K walk/run and 10K trail race in the Genesee County Park & Forest on Sunday, October 2, 2016!

Walk or run on single and double track trails through the forest, along a creek and up and down rolling hills in the Genesee County Park & Forest. Trails are very wide and easy to negotiate (minimal rocks and roots). The course starts on asphalt and then quickly leads into the woods for a truly beautiful run through nature. All proceeds benefit ACORNS, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) "friends of the park" group that enhances the public’s experience at the Genesee County parks and fosters environmental stewardship and education.

Since 2006 ACORNS has provided financial and volunteer support for projects and programs that enhance and supplement the recreational, environmental and educational activities at the Genesee County parks. Our activities include staffing the Nature Interpretive Center, assisting at environmental education programs, funding displays at the Nature Interpretive Center, assisting with biological surveys and participating in trail and facilities maintenance. Future plans include an outdoor learning center.

NO BABY STROLLERS OR PETS ALLOWED IN RACE. NO RUNNERS UNDER AGE 15 ALLOWED IN 10K RACE.

Awards: ACORNS will be handing out medals to our overall top two male and female finishers for the two runs(5k run and 10k run). We will also be handing out medals to our top male and female finishers in the running races in each age group (14&under for 5k only, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70&over) – you must be present to receive your medal; we will not mail them to you.
