Local Drug Task Force

Genesee County is located between the Metropolitan areas of Erie County (Buffalo) and Monroe County (Rochester) and has a population of approximately 60,000. The criminal activity which occurs within Genesee County, including but not limited to illegal drug trafficking, is most certainly influenced by the close proximity of these two major metropolitan areas. The New York State Thruway (Route-90) travels through the center of Genesee County having separate exits located in three different townships. These exits permit easy access to the Thruway and the larger metropolitan areas nearby. Narcotic activity consists of, but is not limited to, the possession and sale of illegal drugs such as Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, Crystal Methamphetamine, Hashish, and Marijuana to name but a few. A large percentage of property within Genesee County is rural, making the cultivation and harvest of marijuana a significant problem as well.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is part of the Genesee County Local Law Enforcement Drug Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of a Sergeant and an Investigator from the Sheriff's Office, an Officer from the Batavia Police Department and an Officer from the Village of LeRoy Police Department. An Assistant District Attorney from the Genesee County District Attorney's Office is also assigned to work closely with the Task Force.

If you suspect drug trafficking is occurring within your neighborhood, or if you have illegal drug activity information, you should call the Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force at (585) 343-3020. Messages may be left twenty-four (24) hours a day.
