Added Control With Pesticides

For best results, use both a liquid or aerosol spray (as found in supermarkets) and a powder or dust (such as boric acid powder).

DUSTS

Blow dust into all cracks and openings, in floors, walls, and around pipes.

  • Dusts are used for areas where sprays cannot be used
  • Dusts are effective longer than sprays
  • Put powder into a plastic squeeze bottle for easy application
  • Apply a thin, even dusting everywhere cockroaches can hide.
  • If the powder becomes wet, it will not work - remove and replace with dry powder
  • Dust under and behind refrigerator, stove, washer, clocks, pictures
  • Dust inside closets and fuse boxes; also inside and under cabinets.

SPRAYS

  • Sprays can be used in areas where dusts cannot
  • Spray wherever cockroaches hide (not electrical boxes)
  • Spray areas around tub, toilet, and sink
  • Spray the underside of sinks, counters, tables and chairs.
  • Spray areas where walls and floors meet, and joints in cabinets and closets.

PESTCIDES

  • Read instructions and cautions or container labels - remember, pesticides are poisons.
  • Cover or put away all food, cooking pots, pans, and dishes.
  • Do not apply pesticides near food, or on food preparation areas
  • Do not apply dusts to places that children or pets can reach
  • Store pesticides out of children's reach, and away from food
  • Wash your hands and arms after using pesticides.
