GAHWNY.ORG Government Appointed Historians of Western New York - This site includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans and Wyoming Counties.  A current list of the County and Municipal Historians, information about the organization, updates on the two annual meetings (which are open to the public) and other helpful information is accessible from this site.


Archives.nysed.gov The New York State Archives provides access to historical and state-specific records as well as an online catalog.  The site also includes information on how to access records digitized by Ancestry.com. [“Several New York repositories have formed a partnership with Ancestry.com to digitize family history records and make them available on line for free.”]


Familysearch.org Is a free family history and genealogy records site that includes hundreds of collections – including birth, marriage, death, probate, land and military. 


Batavialibrary.org The Richmond Memorial Library located in Batavia, NY has a website that includes access to local history sites.  Included are newspapers, passenger/immigration, vital statistics, cemeteries, census, Genesee County, Western New York and New York State.

Findagrave.com - Find the graves of ancestors, create virtual memorials, add 'virtual flowers' and a note to a loved one's grave, etc.

https://www.fenimoreartmuseum.org/collections  The New York State Historical Association's Research Library holdings are now found under Fenimore Art Museum.  Search the online catalog to discover their holdings in art and architectural history, museum studies, and New YorkState history. This site including information on genealogy, available census records, Colonial American, nineteenth-century American art history, Native American art and culture, folklore, and museum studies.


A Guide to New York Historical Resources.  Site useful for locating military records, census data, copies of historic newspapers and family histories. Timelines, maps and videos are resources available to learn more about New York State.

www.oakfieldhistory.org  This site includes information regarding the Oakfield Historical Society, including newsletters, photographs of events, items for sale and a visual tour of their museum.  Oakfield is a Town and Village located in Genesee County.


www.leroyhistoricalsociety.org  Located in the historic LeRoy House, the LeRoy Historical Society's website includes the Jell-O Gallery,Transportation Exhibit, the LeRoy Barn Quilt tour and numerous articles written by the curator, Lynne Belluscio.  LeRoy is a Town and Village located within Genesee County.


www.italiangen.org Created and managed by the Italian Genealogical Group, this organization has developed a user friendly database for the Boroughs of New York City.  It is an excellent resource for locating birth, marriage, death, naturalization and veterans' records.
