COMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR (PT)

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
:  Develops, supervises, and participates in the operation of, an emergency communications system, and procedures pertaining thereto.  Work is performed under the general direction of a Board of Trustees, and supervision may be exercised over a number of full-time or part-time employees.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Supervises the development of specifications for new and replacement equipment;
Supervises the installation, testing, and repair of equipment;
Coordinates use of leased-line equipment;
Develops and implements procedures for use of equipment;
Coordinates use of all emergency communication equipment and personnel in the jurisdiction;

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND/OR PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:  Good knowledge of the techniques and equipment used for emergency communications; ability to make minor repairs to such equipment; ability to communicate effectively with technicians and laymen; ability to plan and supervise the work of others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from High School or possession of an equivalency diploma recognized by the NYS Department of Education
