Nursing Unit Aide

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  The incumbent in this position will assist the Certified Nursing Assistant, by performing duties which do not involve functions that require certification.  Does related work, as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Makes beds, straighten rooms and closets;
Set up and clean dining rooms before and after meals, wash bids after meals;
Fill soap bottles, glove boxes, etc.
Answers call lights;
Clean wheelchairs, geri chairs, cushions and other equipment;
Deliver water, fluids and nourishments to residents;
Clean bed pans;
Gather supplies, as requested;
Label personal items.
After proper training by the Quality Assurance Coordinator, may feed residents.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, bend, stoop, pull and push, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is required to walk, stand for long periods of time, talk and hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and visually observe residents.
