Park Supervisor - Forester
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is an important supervisory position, involving responsibility for assisting in the formulation and implementation of plans for the development, maintenance and use of County parks and forest areas. Work is carried out under the general supervision of the County Highway Superintendent, according to generally established policies and procedures, but considerable latitude is permitted for the use of individual initiative in determining work methods and project priorities. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate personnel. Does related work, as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Applies for grants and other outside funding avenues to promote park improvements and to support environmental educational initiatives. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND/OR PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of park facilities and infrastructure; thorough knowledge of tools, techniques and terminology involved in park maintenance and forestry; thorough knowledge of environmental and conservation terminology, education, and procedures; working knowledge of forestry and landscape architectural procedures; ability to develop environmental education programs; ability to develop construction schedules and implement cost controls; ability to plan and supervise the work of park maintenance personnel; ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to maintain simple records and to prepare reports; industry and dependability; initiative and resourcefulness.
